I have four days of freedom before classes start up again. Sadly, my roomate is coming back tomorrow, which will be the first time she's been here since mid December - so long, sweet single. Taking it easy this weekend as I had a friend turn 21 last weekend and have another turning 21 next week - needless to say there was much craziness. My favorite part was trying watching my friends Dana and Alan dancing their terrible choreography to Queen's "Lover Boy" while the room spun uncontrollably. Crew starts up tomorrow and will suck my soul away from me once again, but I'm debating snatching it back and quitting, mo fo. I kinda liked how this January went with time for myself and plenty of sleep and drink.

ahh, my fingers are yelling at me for typing... I just got back from climbing for a few hours and I got stuck in the bathroom because I couldn't grip hard enough to open the door. I'm hoping I get over that soon though because the power is going out to the whole campus... weee!! maybe I'll do a vault job or something. more likely I will just light off fireworks and do other such things to annoy campus security. very enjoyable pics, chris. I hope you will have a party for us when we come and visit you this semester. Once again I think I'm getting over-involved. Projects include a radio show, sailing, climbing, biking, meadmaking, and working in our new co-op, hopefully classes don't get too hard... I might just have to quit. okay, well, that'll be all for now. I've got some good pictures from break that I'm trying to make a web page out of... we'll see

Hey all, I am slightly drunk and partying hardy after my first week of classes. It blizzarded today and NYC doesn’t plow the streets. Genus huh? And of course I decided to walk 15 blocks to my friend’s dorm to play beer pong, which I lost. But it was thrilling.
Its good to be back at school. All my classes are good except writing the essay, which is a required class that I LOATHE. Ugh, it is awful. My homework is I need to go observe a piece of art for 45 minuets. What the fuck? I am totally going to go "observe" the sculptures in the 14th street and 8th avenue subway station. And by observe I mean I am going to LIE. God I hate that class.
But tomorrow I am going to go see "A Number," which is Carol Churchill’s new play and it is staring Sam Shepherd. For $20. Because Ron Fitzgerald is my sugar daddy (Ron did Colony stuff with me, for those of you who haven't met him).
Any who, life is good and I miss you all madly. If you don't know the genus that is The Arcade Fire yet, you must go listen to them RIGHT NOW. I am going to listen to this badass song ("in the back seat") and drink some water and go to bed.
Love love.

jumping beans! Hello from portland! I've been busy doing everything but school things since I got back. The drive here was pretty crazy and fun. As we approached p-town, it got strangely colder and snowier and we eventually discovered we were driving on three inches of solid ice. thank god we're still alive. portland was like a dreamland. On our way to campus, riley and I went and stomped some choice words in the golf course grass and made some pretty funny videos (which I will try to post). I kept getting stuck and unable to go uphill... its really weird to think you're going to have traction on gravel or something and then just slip on your ass. The day after we got here we went on a road trip to the coast and Astoria... lots of good kite flying... MLK day was spent shopping for and making five gallons of blackberry mead, which is now busy fermenting underneath my desk. sadly, the ice has melted and I must start classes again tomorrow, but everything feels pretty damn wonderful. Things got a bit boring after you all left for your respective schools, but I have to say it was a nearly perfect break... exactly what I needed... I expect everyone to do their damndest to have an excellent semester and let the blog know about all of it. I am currently looking at the employment pages for west yellowstone this summer... anyone else?

From my Thermo/statiscal dynamics Syllabus:
"Ludwig Boltzmann, who spent much of his life studying statistical mechanics, died in 1906 by his own hand. Paul Ehrenfest, carrying on the work died similarly in 1933. Now it is our turn to study statistical mechanics.
Perhaps it will be wise to approach the subject cautiously..."

...great... I can't wait...
