Hey all,
thought you might be interested in this email I receved from home. so it turns out that not only is the missoulian crap journalism but also discrimanatory as well. yay!

Dear Friends,

Earlier this month, Katherine Beckley and I travelled to Portland, Oregon
to be joined in lawful matrimony. We applied for, paid for, and received a
legitimate marriage license. We were married in a legal civil ceremony by
a state official, Judge Paula Kurschner. Five of our closest friends--four
of them Missoula residents--served as our witnesses. Upon our return home
to Missoula, we submitted a wedding announcement and photo to the local
newspaper, The Missoulian, only to learn that the Missoulian's policy is to
publish announcements of same-sex unions in the Friday "Hometown" section
of the newspaper, without photographs, rather than in the Sunday "Weddings
and Engagements" section, with photographs. I spoke with Editor-in-Chief
Mike McInally about this policy at some length. I learned that the
Missoulian rescinded its earlier policy of publishing all marriage and
engagement announcements equally after conducting a telephone poll of
Missoulian readers that indicated that a majority of readers did not want
to see announcements of same-sex unions. As a compromise measure, the
Missoulian adopted its current policy--a policy that amounts to separate
and unequal treatment. Please help me send a message to the Missoulian
that you will not sanction this blatant discrimination. Write to the
Missoulian to protest the policy. Call the editor, Mike McInally, the
publisher, John VanStrydonck, or the parent organization, Lee Enterprises,
to demand equal treatment for all Missoulians. If you subscribe to the
Missoulian, cancel your subscription and join the boycott. Forward this
message to your friends so that they can take action as well. Public
opinion is being used as an excuse for treating LGBT Missoulians as
second-class citizens; use your voice to demand equal treatment for all.

Thank you for your support on this important issue.

Anya Jabour
