Sometimes, stupid people send E-mails to the class list that are just meant for the professor. It's usually just annoying. But in this case, it was different. Here is the return letter my sociology professor sent to a student in my class after she apologized for sleeping in and missing class and gave an example from the reading to prove that she read it. enjoy. :

Thanks for the update, Mia. I appreciate that kind of integrity in a student. I can assure you that you will not be penalized for this absence. However I am sorry to report that you will be on random drug testing for the duration of the course, due to your assertion that drug testing is unfair. We all know that the only reason you would make such a claim is if you were a tree-hugging, birkenstock-wearing, bong-toting hippie. No hard feelings. -Big Bad Bruce
